HAKI CENTRE JOINS THE GLOBAL ALLIANCE TO END STATELESSNESS TASKFORCE

Effective 5 August 2022, Haki Centre is part of the 15-member Global Alliance Taskforce which is the multistakeholder engine to drive the development of foundational elements of the Global Alliance to End Statelessness. The Taskforce will continue to operate until the Global Alliance is launched in September 2023.

The Alliance Taskforce is comprised of civil society organizations, people with lived experiences of statelessness, faith-based organizations, UN entities, and other international entities. UNHCR will serve as the Secretariat to lead the establishment of the Global Alliance to End Statelessness.

Haki Centre is committed to ensuring that the Taskforce achieves its goal of establishing the Global Alliance to End Statelessness by September 2023.

The Global Alliance to End Statelessness

“The Global Alliance to End Statelessness is a new initiative that by 2030 seeks to accelerate solutions to statelessness through a collective multistakeholder approach, which centres and respects the experience of those who are stateless and formerly stateless”.

The Alliance will build on the momentum generated by the #IBelong Campaign to foster national, regional, and global solidarity as well as sustainable partnerships and a shared commitment to eradicating statelessness beyond 2024. It will aim to increase collective advocacy efforts, catalyse political commitments and accelerate the implementation of concrete solutions to statelessness.
